Kostelic Clinches Cup
Are, Sweden — March 8, 2003
RESULTS

World Cup overall champion Janica Kostelic of Croatia took a first-run lead of more than a half-second Saturday and crafted it into another slalom victory. Her winning time was 1:45.84 with Swedish star Anja Paerson, who won Thursday night's giant slalom, runnerup in 1:46.47. Sarah Schleper, the lone American to reach the second run, was 12th in the first run and finished 26th after surviving second-run problems.

Kostelic, who has already clinched the overall Cup championship, has also won the slalom points championship. Today's victory was her fifth in the slalom this season.

The season concludes next week at Lillehammer. Racing begins Wednesday and continues through the weekend, with both the women's and men's tours on hand.
