Winter is here?

Well the weather just continues to be strange! We have now gotten two snowstorms this september, with another one on the way today. I'm paranoid because my ski sale to benefit ORE and Global Cooling is this Saturdaty, and there is a 30% chance of snow! ah well, that is life in the mountains.

The Town of Crested Butte is getting closer this week to pass my and ORE's recommendations for prescriptive green building products (formaldehyde free subfloo and finishes that do not cause cancer in the state of California), blower door tests for new construction and remodels, efficient wood stoves, outdoor heating REMP requirements (must use alternative energy or pay in lieu), LEED certification for large town buildings, and a 50% CFL lightbulb requirement.

Despite this gain and a final Colorado Supreme Ruling against the Union Park Water Diversion Project, our town is changing all too rapidly for my liking. There is a new greed undercurrent pervasive here. And so many out of town and country construction workers imported (around 1000).....

Well, it happens to everyone eventually, and, well, i moved here 17 years ago, so i am part of the problem as well.....

Alison-
Not sure exactly how to ge ahold of you at all so Im trying here. I read a mini bio on you on ospreypacks.com. Looks like your the featured athlete on there. Congrats. It was good to read about how you came to where you're at right now. I am 24 and currently traveling around Europe a bit. Its been a really cool experience so far. Its been about 2 weeks and total I will be out for about 2.5 months. I would like to do some more hiking and what not. That would be so nice. The only thing is...I too have a little medical thing I seem to ahve to deal with. I had open heart surgery 6 years ago. Sometimes when I work to hard my heart gets to goin a little faster than it should. The way to prevent it...slow down. THAT is a hrad learned lesson for this fast paced girl. It tears me apart inside when my will wants so badly to do something but my body says no. DAH! Its frustrating just thinking about it. I have managed to hike some of the AT trail in New Jersey, the PCT in Oregon (where Im from) and am currently in Europe and have done some hiking and a lot of walking.

Anyway, not totally sure why I wanted to write you...just could tell you were a woman that has goals and likes to see them fulfilled. I like that in a person. If you have any spare time it would be great to hear from you but if not...thanks for taking the time at least to read the ramblings of a vagabond.
